²⁰ Menahem ·taxed [exacted/extorted the money from] the rich in Israel to pay ·about one and one-fourth pounds [^Lfifty shekels] of silver for each soldier to the king of Assyria. So the king left and did not stay in the land.

²¹ Everything else Menahem did ·is [^Lis it not…?] written in the book of the ·history [chronicles; annals; 1:18] of the kings of Israel. ²² Then Menahem ·died [^Llay down/^Tslept with his fathers/ancestors], and his son Pekahiah became king in his place.
